Serving Together

We are led by our mission statement, “To Share Christ and Serve Others.” We encourage all members to discover their passion for ministry and reaching out in our community.

Our ministries at Belmont Baptist include:

Loads of Love

An ongoing mission of several years governed by Love, Inc. and church policy. Clients are referred by Love, Inc. and assigned a church member to assist with laundry. All laundry supplies are provided free of charge by the church and there are five industrial washers and dryers available for use.

Women’s Missionary Union

The Women’s Missionary Union (WMU) is comprised of Christian women who come together on a monthly basis to study about missions and missionaries at home and abroad. We use Jesus’ example in Matthew 25 of ministering to others in our community and abroad. We contribute to and encourage missionaries around the world through our prayers and gifts. We participate in local mission projects by giving helping hands to those in need in our area.

Among the many ministry projects supported by our WMU are the following:

  • Annual Women’s Day service.
  • Annual chili and brunswick stew cook offs.
  • Prayer Shawl ministry (more information can be found here).
  • Donations to a number of church-related and local charitable organizations, including Meals on Wheels and the ACCA Shriners.

Our Food Closet is stocked by the congregation with non-perishable food items.  Our goal is to provide a bag of food that will last two days for a family in need.

We partner with People And Congregations Engaged in Ministry, PACEM, to provide housing for the homeless in our area during the winter months.

We offer a shopping ministry to members and friends of our church who are visually impaired. We assist with shopping at grocery stores as well as other variety stores.

Several ladies in the church use their gifts for decorating at the Ronald McDonald House affiliated with the UVA Medical Center and we also provide and prepare meals for the guests of the house several times a year along with collecting items that are requested.

Our church provides the facility to the Central Virginia Baptist Association to house the Clothing Center.

Several times a year we visit with the residents of Heritage Inn Assistant Living , an assisted living facility located on Pantops Mountain. Once a month our pastor leads a worship service at Morningside Assisted Living.

We also support the work of Habitat for Humanity, and LOVE, INC.
